A welcoming choir for adults who love to sing — no experience required.

Join a beginner-friendly adult choir at VioCello Music School in Markham. Whether you are new to choir, returning to singing, or simply miss making music with others, our Adult Choir is a supportive place to build confidence, improve your musicianship, and enjoy singing in a group.

Singers will explore a variety of musical styles, including classical choir, musical theatre, pop-style singing, jazz, and familiar ensemble repertoire.

Meet Your Choir Director

Adult Choir is led by Ms. Yo-Yo Ruan, founder and instructor at VioCello Music School. With over 40 years of music teaching experience, Ms. Ruan has guided students of all ages in voice, choir, piano, orchestra, and ensemble performance.

Ms. Ruan holds Honours Piano Performance and ARCT diplomas from The Royal Conservatory of Music and has directed concerts, musicals, choirs, and ensembles internationally. She has also performed at respected venues including Massey Hall and Koerner Hall, and is an RCM Piano Concerto Competition winner.

Her teaching style is supportive, encouraging, and confidence-focused. Whether you are new to choir, returning to singing, or simply looking for a welcoming place to sing with others, Ms. Ruan helps adults feel comfortable, supported, and proud of their progress while growing musically.

The goal is to help adults enjoy singing, grow musically, and feel proud of their progress.

Adult Choir Term

The fall adult choir term runs from September through January, giving singers time to learn music, rehearse with others, build confidence, and prepare for a January performance opportunity.

A second adult choir term may run from February through June with a spring performance focus.
